Hot in Tianjin 104° for MidMarket’s 10 Year Anniversary
Our collaboration with Tianjin started in 2005 when as Chairman of ACG I worked with Vice Mayor Cui Jindu and Deputy Secretary General Chen Zongshen to form the China International Private Equity Forum which attracted 5,000 business owners and professionals from across China and around the world. Today, some version of the format modelled on ACG InterGrowth is a staple in many Chinese cities.
While China is facing economic headwinds and a choppy public equity market, Tianjin continues to stride forward with industrial strength as areas in the nation’s northeast and central provinces absorb the brunt of the general slowdown. During the recent heat wave of 100°+ days, the streets of Tianjin pulsed with a rhythm reflecting business as usual. We celebrated with our good friends and reflected on the ups and downs we’ve lived through together. To commemorate VM Cui’s leadership in CIPEF and MidMarket’s Joint Venture in Tianjin, we presented him with a unique “print” by artist Tom Judd. Philadelphians can look up from 11th & Vine Streets and see the image billboard-size as placed by Michelle Lao atop her building which is home to Lao Collection.
We salute courage and adventure of many kinds and are grateful for all the friends who make our life more interesting and fulfilled.
